Mr. Freeman is a messiah of a new time
Meeting with the creators of Mr. Freeman series - Pavel Muntean, Vadim Demchog, Anatoliy Dobrozhan and Vladimir Ponomarev - caused quite a stir. The largest "Royal Cinema" auditorium bulge at the seams. People eager to talk with the "free man" were standing, sitting together at one seat and even on the floor.
The atmosphere was typical for "Multimatograf" - informal, disposing for a dialogue. We spoke, wrote questions to speakers on sheets of paper, watched political, social and spiritual Mr. Freeman episodes.
There was a mixture of humor and philosophy: you were just laughing at a weird script writer Anatoly Dobrozhan's hat, and right after you miss attention for a few seconds and "turn on" while they talk about the messiah or the Kali Yuga.
Of course they mostly spoke about Mr. Freeman. "He lives by himself, he is an independent person and he makes the rules and we follow them," - said the author of the idea, Paul Muntean. The creators have named their character being a messiah needed for the new world that is still living under the laws of the old one: "We all pay so-called tax on meaningless, we keep up with the old rules".
Of course, there were a lot of questions on the issue that the Mr. Freeman creators are no longer anonymous. More than three years for, until the never-happened end of the world the creators for the episodes were unknown except for the character voice, Vadim Demchog. According to Anatoly Dobrozhana, it was a deliberate move: "It's good for a show when you're under the "cap "(originally he came in a crazy kind of hat), but the project has other goals, and when you reach them all the masks are of no need anymore".
In addition to philosophical questions the audience was also interested whether guests wish to move to Vologda. Vadim Demchog admitted that he is fascinated with Vologda sense of humor: "I saw your monuments to the "O" letter and to the pissing dog". And Anatoly Dobrozhan was even more optimistic: "There live awesome Russian people here! Here only, I realized that we are rich and unbreakable. If the whole Russia is full of such people, we have nothing to fear". In general, all the guests are really charmed by our city eventhough we have "completely smashed roads".
In hour and a half we were able to talk about the Mr. Freeman second season, 25th frame, Dostoevsky and questions we should ask ourselves. At the end Vadim Demchog shouted with a voice of scapegoat from his theater project "Arlekiada". And the director, Vladimir Ponomarev, asked the audience: "Did you notice anything strange in today's Mr. Freeman episodes?". And of course we noticed that the screening was a mirror image of the video. This turned out to be the idea of the speakers to make us be like not infront of the screen but inside it.
Those who want to continue the conversation on the issue of the meaning of life in a new world and new civilizational paradigm, should come on Sunday to the Russkiy Dom at 11:00 a.m. There will be a colloquium with Anatoly Dobrozhan.
